After consistent draughts in Kutch, Gujarat he came to Mumbai in 1744. He learnt the nuances of cotton grading and trading from the British officers and soon mastered the art. He is the one of the most prominent industrialist, philanthropist, spiritual and dynamic personality that the cotton industry has seen. The British Govt. named a business road in South Mumbai after him in 1911.
The late Shri Velji Asaria Daga commenced his cotton service in 1903. He mastered himself in the art of cotton procurement and started his own trading and brokerage firm.
After his early demise, his son late Shri Ramji Velji Daga joined the business in 1913 at the young age of 18 years.
